Rapides Habitat for Humanity's mission of helping to provide safe and clean homes to those in need in Central Louisiana does more than just put a roof over someone’s head. It has been proven that clean, decent, consistent housing provides stability for the entire family, especially children. It enables families to establish a sense of dignity and pride which expands their educational and employment prospects. Placing families in viable housing improves the families' overall health, as well as their physical safety and security. It's a win-win situation for the individual families as well as our community.

Local school systems thrive as a result of people owning their own homes. Home ownership stimulates civic activism and community-based organizations to develop. An overall social stability and security increases when overall housing improves. It is obvious that adequate housing is vital to the health and economic well being of Central Louisiana.
